Your coastal community climate change map

Coming together to map where you see changes is a really valuable visual starting point in understanding each other, and the changes that are happening.

• What are the main examples of coastal change in your area?
• Why are they happening for example due to sea-level rise, storm surges
• What are the consequences for example erosion, temporary flooding and flooding of low lying areas
• Who and what is at risk, and when? For example certain people, houses, shops, roads, land, ecosystems and natural assets
• Create/download a map of your coastal area and based on knowledge in the room/community
  • Add a blue dot to show community assets and places that are important and that you value
  • Add red dot for areas that are being affected by climate change (flooding, sea level rise, erosion …)
  • Yellow dots for areas where you are noticing the most change
  • Green dots – where people go during emergencies or for information
• Explain why the dots are where they are
