Working together as a community
It’s important to work with as many as possible in your community to understand how coastal change will impact you and your place, and how you can work together to be better prepared. This includes working in partnership with local authorities and others.
A useful starting point is for your community to record how your coast is changing and the actions that can be taken.
There are many great sources of information about how to engage:
- Verture's First steps for engaging communities on climate change
- Scottish Community Development Centre
- Planning Aid Scotland
- Place Standard Tool with a Climate Lens
- It is often helpful to bring in creative practitioners to help communities reimagine their places – see Culture for Climate Scotland
There may be opportunities to engage around opportunities created by others including Local Authorities, for example Local Place Plans and Coastal Change Adaptation Plans.
